Traditional Assessment Instruments
This is an assignment I created for my Algebra 1 students, so that they could study for an upcoming exam. The assignment gives students very explicit instructions, so that they can use the correct concepts to solve each problem.
This worksheet was designed to guide students to discovering the patterns of special products. This worksheet encourages independent thought, and students were told to work together and collaborate once they had already come up with their own ideas.

Alternative Assessment Instruments
This assignment was created to get a snapshot of the students' understanding of equations. This assessment was very informal and was used in conjunction with other problems as the homework assignment. Students were able to express their thoughts with words, rather than be intimidated my mathematical symbols and vocabulary.
This assignment was created to allow students to demonstrate their understanding of mathematics in an alternative environment. Students were given a week to complete this assignment, and they were instructed to use examples and their own words to demonstrate their understanding of polynomials and rational expressions. This gave students who are more inclined to writing and language arts a moment to shine in mathematics.
